Family Day Care Providers The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition at Framingham State College designed and developed the video training curriculum kit, Try Something New. This curriculum was developed under a USDA Team Nutrition grant from the Massachusetts Department of Education, Nutrition Programs and Food Services.
The goal of the Try Something New curriculum is to educate family day care providers on: Dietary Guidelines for Americans, as applicable to the children in the home day care setting Healthful tips and recipes Resources and educational aids to assist in their continued efforts to provide quality nutrition programs
Curriculum All family day care sponsors have received the Try Something New curriculum, which includes: A one-hour video divided into seven segments for easy viewing A companion kit with supplemental information, recipes, and project instructions A CD-ROM with the contents of the companion kit for reproduction of the materials A set of quizzes and answer keys to assess the knowledge gained by FDC providers Earn 3 CACFP training hours for family day care providers with successful completion of this curriculum.
