Certificate in Excellence in Child Nutrition Research shows that well-managed school food service operations offer a distinct advantage to school systems working hard to improve learning environments. This certificate will assure that the director of this key operation has the knowledge and skills necessary to support educational goals.
Description The Certificate in Excellence in Child Nutrition includes five college-level courses taught by Framingham State College faculty utilizing distance video conferencing technology. Courses are taught in a synchronous learning environment with the instructor and some students in Framingham, and other students at up to three other locations: University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, Bunker Hill Community College in Boston, and Springfield Technical Community College. Cameras and microphones connect the four classrooms. A teaching and technology assistant is present at each site. Each course is: Taught once a week for three hours, 4:45-7:45 p.m., for a total of 15 weeks Taught on a rotating basis so participants can join the certificate program at any time Provides four undergraduate credits and is appropriate for people with or without a bachelor’s degree. Limited to 25 students Courses may be used towards degree programs at other colleges. Admission Requirements A high school diploma or GED and current employment in a school food program in Massachusetts.
