For the Health of It, Kid Approved Recipe Contest
Dear Food Service Director:
Encourage your staff to participate in our highly successful second statewide recipe contest. As we continue to improve the school nutrition environment in Massachusetts, the For the Health of It, Kid Approved Recipe Contest will be based upon the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, Food Groups to Encourage (fruits and vegetables including legumes, whole grains and low-fat milk and milk products). From now until April 9, 2008, the John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition will collect your recipes and evaluate them against the contest rules; twelve finalists will then be selected for a taste off where the top recipes will be evaluated by school children. The three contest winners will prepare their recipes for all attendees at the School Nutrition Association of Massachusetts Fall Conference (October 28 and 29, 2008).
By submitting a standardized recipe using one or more of the primary ingredients from the Food Groups to Encourage, you will be eligible to win:
- A $100 American Express® Gift Card
- A recognition plaque
- Overnight accommodations at the School Nutrition Association of Massachusetts (SNA of Mass) Fall Conference in Marlborough
- Free annual membership to SNA
And if you are one of the twelve finalists, your recipe will be printed in the For the Health of It Cookbook, also available on our Website!
Here is all the information you need to get started:
So check your recipe boxes for a kid approved, nutritious and delicious standardized recipe.
Good luck and healthy cuisine,
Pat Luoto
